Our Story

Hello! We’re Jasper and Finn – two single dads who met by accident (and mild chaos) at a “Bring Your Own Plant” night in Stroud. Jasper turned up with a home-made grow-your-own herb kit, Finn turned up with no plant whatsoever but a six-year-old daughter who named everyone else’s. By the end of the evening, a pot of compost had been eaten, a new friendship had been forged, and the idea for New Baby Hampers was quietly germinating.

About Us

If you’d told us a few years ago that we’d be running a baby gift hamper business together, we’d have laughed — probably while wiping puréed banana off something expensive.

We’re not here to reinvent the wheel — just to make sure the wheel comes with biscuits. We want our gifts to feel like a friend saying, “You’re doing brilliantly. Also, here’s chocolate.”

A lightbulb moment...

Over a pot of tea (and an ill-advised number of Jaffa Cakes), we started chatting about the sheer number of “new baby” gifts we’d received when our children were born — the pretty ones, the impractical ones, the mysterious scented ones that made the dog sneeze.

Somewhere between laughter and mild exasperation, we realised there was room for something better. Something useful, thoughtful, sustainable — and still a little bit joyful.

So we started experimenting with a few boxes: organic cotton bits, handmade balms, snacks for the sleep-deprived, and Jasper’s famous Grow Your Own Calm kit. We sent a few to friends. They cried (in a good way). Word spread.

Before we knew it, our kitchen tables were buried in recycled packing paper, the children were in charge of “quality control,” and New Baby Hampers had quietly become a real thing.

Jasper

Jasper

Co-founder, Floral Enthusiast

Originally from Somerset, Jasper started his career in product design before realising that corporate life and toddler chaos don’t mix particularly well. After becoming a dad to Arlo, he swapped boardrooms for back gardens and began tinkering with sustainable gift ideas — including what would eventually become his famous Grow Your Own Calm kit.
“It’s not fussy, it’s considered.”

Finn

Finn

Co-founder, Illustrator

Finn grew up in London and worked for years as an art teacher and children’s book illustrator before decamping to the Cotswolds with his daughter Florence — and a small mountain of sketchbooks. He’s the creative brain behind New Baby Hampers: part design studio, part organised chaos — which, conveniently, is also how he parents.
“It’s not messy, it’s textured.”

Florence

Creative Director of Stickers & Opinions

Florence is six, full of ideas, and entirely convinced she runs the company. She oversees sticker selection, colour approval, and the very important task of naming the hampers (“The Calm Basket of Wonder” was hers). When she’s not helping Dad (Finn) in the studio, she can usually be found drawing faces on cardboard boxes or holding very strong opinions about fonts.
“That colour’s boring.”

Arlo

Arlo

Head of Box Testing & Biscuit Consumption

Arlo, five, takes his role extremely seriously. Every box that leaves the studio must be personally tested for sturdiness, noise potential, and biscuit compatibility. He’s also the unofficial morale officer, providing loud encouragement and louder drumming on empty packaging. Known for his chaotic charm and ability to locate snacks with radar-like precision, Arlo keeps everyone on their toes — and occasionally in stitches.
“That one’s mine.”
Everything Edible

Where we are now...

We’ve swapped the kitchen chaos for a little studio on the edge of the Cotswolds, surrounded by teabags, bubble wrap, and a perpetual smell of lavender-free baby balm.

Our hampers now travel all over the UK — to new parents, proud grandparents, doting friends and well-wishers who want to send something genuinely kind.

We still pack each box by hand. We still laugh about the compost incident. And we still believe the best gifts are the ones that make people feel seen, not just celebrated.
